My name is Dimas. I'm a photographer and family travel specialist from Ukraine. I have been working in photography since 2010 and for more than ten years my home and workplace was the island of Koh Samui in Thailand.
What started as a regular family trip to Samui in 2014 turned into a long term life on the island. I was not just visiting hotels for a few days, I lived there, worked with local businesses and spent most of my time between beaches, family resorts and places where parents actually go with their children.
Over the years I have personally explored most of the island’s coastline, from quiet shallow bays for toddlers to livelier areas for older kids. I stayed in or worked with many family oriented resorts, visited kids clubs, play zones and attractions, and talked to hundreds of families about what really turned out to be convenient or problematic during their stay.
As a photographer I often work with families, so I see both sides at the same time, how the resort and location look in pictures and how they work in real life when you arrive with children, strollers and suitcases. This experience helps me to separate marketing promises from practical details that matter for parents, such as shade, distances, noise, access to shops or medical help.
Since April 2025 I have been based in Lisbon, Portugal, where I continue my work as a photographer and digital specialist. At the same time I stay closely connected to Koh Samui and to Maya Resort Samui, following changes on the island and updating information. On this site my role is to use real world experience, not brochure texts, to help families choose the right area, hotel and format of holiday on Samui.
